Turnham says the underlying philosophy of the Melanoma Research Foundation is that a well-educated and supported patient lives longer and better. The foundation offers in-person patient symposia at comprehensive care centers so that the patients can learn about the latest treatment options in the field. The foundation also educates patients on how to deal with their disease and manage toxicities associated with treatments and psychosocial issues. The foundation also boasts a strong online-patient community where patients can come together to ask questions and share their stories.
