Hassmiller says the Affordable Care Act represents a transformation in healthcare. As new jobs are created and mergers and acquisitions are taking place frequently, nurses need to be "at the table" in discussions of their value in the entire patient care delivery spectrum.
Nurses also need to continue to educate themselves, according to Hassmiller. The current healthcare system is dependent on team players who understand care across the entire continuum.
