Expert Oncology Nurses to Lead Inaugural Conference.

Physicians’ Education Resource® (PER®), the premier resource for oncology and hematology continuing medical education (CME), is launching the 1st Annual School of Nursing Oncology™ symposium, to be held August 4-5, at the Loews Vanderbilt in Nashville, announced Phil Talamo, president of PER®.

“We are very excited to launch this new nursing-focused oncology meeting. As the leading provider of accredited education for oncologists, we understand that nurses play a crucial role in the care of cancer patients,” Talamo said. “As their role in treatment becomes more complex and more challenging due to increased visits and rapid advancements in clinical data, we felt it was our duty to provide a specialized curriculum for oncology nurses to learn alongside their peers.”

PER®’s 1st Annual School of Nursing Oncology™ Symposium will consist of two days focusing on various topics including clinical advancements, patient counseling, palliative care, and management of disease-related and treatment-related morbidity. The format will allow participants to engage with the faculty of expert oncology nurses and share their experiences on clinical challenges. The co-chairs for this symposium are:

  • Grace Cherry, RN, MSN, NP, nurse practitioner at UCLA Melanoma Program
  • Beth Eaby-Sandy, MSN, CRNP, OCN, thoracic oncology nurse practitioner at Abramson Cancer Center at Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
  • Laura S. Wood, RN, MSN, OCN, renal cancer research coordinator at Cleveland Clinic Taussig Cancer Institute
