Mary Ann Caputo, executive director, Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancer (SPOHNC), discusses services offered by the foundation for patients, caregivers, and their families.

Caputo says oncology nurses, speech pathologists, social workers or survivors and their caregivers, facilitate many of the chapters. Head and neck cancer patients can be matched up with a survivor or given literature on the disease. SPOHNC has published two cookbooks with recipes specifically for patients with head and neck cancer, Caputo says.

These cookbooks were written by head and neck cancer patient survivors and offer tips for patients to help them overcome swallowing and nutrition difficulties.
