Many healthcare workers are unaware of CSTDs because they are not being used in their organization. Cost of CSTDs is a concern because it adds to the already high cost of delivering chemotherapy. Polovich says that because the cost of intravenous chemotherapy is so high, the additional cost of CSTDs makes little difference.
CSTDs are important, Polovich says, in order to truly protect healthcare workers.
