Erica Bell, PhD, assistant professor of Radiation Oncology at The Ohio State University, discusses prognostic factors for patients diagnosed with grade 2 gliomas.

Bell explains that there are many subsets of patients in this setting, as gliomas have been recently reclassified to incorporate molecular parameters that are extremely important in understanding prognosis and treatment selection. For example, some grade 2 gliomas are classified as IDH wild-type and resemble glioblastoma. Thus, when patients are diagnosed with grade 2 glioma, their treatment plan and outcome can be vastly different than other patients with the same malignancy.
