Tara Sanft, MD, assistant professor of medicine (medical oncology), medical director, Adult Survivorship, Yale Cancer Center Survivorship Clinic, discusses the benefit of using a multidisciplinary team when caring for cancer patients.

Sanft says by using a multidisciplinary team, patients can get a better idea of what to expect during and after their cancer treatment and who will be assisting them. Because of this, patients feel less distressed and can more easily reach their healthy lifestyle goals.

Having a multidisciplinary team also helps patients cope better with their new life after treatment because they are better prepared, Sanft says.
