Debbie's Dream Foundation is hosting a free webinar on nutrition and clinical trials
Cancer patients face many challenges and don't have enough information about many areas. Two of those areas are nutrition and clinical trials, and the Debbie’s Dream Foundation is hosting a free webinar on these topics to be held Wednesday, February 4, 2015 offering expert insights for patients, caregivers and the healthcare professionals who treat them.
First up, at 12:00 noon EST, will be the Nutrition for Cancer Patients Webinar, featuring Jennifer Wolfshohl, MS, RD, CDN, CSO, of Meals to Heal, an organization providing home delivery of fresh, nutritious meals designed for cancer patients.
When diagnosed with cancer, nutrition becomes even more important. Good nutrition can help patients to feel better, reduce the risk of infection, keep their strength up, and heal faster. During this informational webinar, participants will learn the building blocks of a healthy diet as well as the nutritional needs throughout treatment.
This presentation will be followed at 12:45 EST by Demystifying Clinical Trials, featuring
Joel Tepper, MD, the Hector MacLean Distinguished Professor Cancer Research at the University of North Carolina Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center.
Currently, it is estimated that only 4% of patients enroll in clinical trials. This lack of enrollment leads to delays in the development of cutting-edge cancer treatments and hinders the prognosis of cancer patients. This webinar is aimed at demystifying clinical trials for the cancer patients, families, caregivers, and healthcare professionals, offering information on finding the right clinical trial understanding the different phases of and common terms used in clinical trials, and plus tips on discussing clinical trial options with your patients.
