Carolyn Phillips, MSN, RN, ACNP-BC, AOCNP, University of Texas at Austin, School of Nursing, discusses the experiences of young woman in their 20s with breast cancer.

Many times, "younger woman with breast cancer" means patients who are younger than age 50. However, developmentally, women in their 50s are different from women in their 40s, their 30s and their 20s. For those in their 20s, the experience can be very unique and leave them feeling isolated -- not a part of the adolescent and young adult patients and not a part of those older women. These patients, therefore, have specific concerns and needs.
